Emmerdale has offered a first glimpse of Dawn and Joe Tate's wedding week, which is set to end in tragedy. The day will conclude with devastating events that will have long-term repercussions for the village residents.
Wedding Plans and Growing Tensions
In recent episodes, Joe has been concentrating on his wedding to Dawn and preparing for fatherhood after her pregnancy revelation. While Dawn believes he is changing for the better, others remain skeptical.
Tensions escalated when Billy and Dawn connected over Lucas's detention slip, and Billy attempted to kiss her but was rejected. Fearing Joe had witnessed the moment, Billy confessed to Caleb. Joe learned the truth after exposing Caleb's business scheme at the Depot, leading to a confrontation that left Billy unconscious and bleeding.
Assault and Arrest
Billy was rushed to hospital with his life in danger. Police interviewed Caleb, who implicated Joe in the assault. Dawn watched tearfully as Joe was arrested for GBH, though he proclaimed his innocence and expected to be released once the misunderstanding was cleared up.
Despite being released from custody, suspicion remains. Dawn is torn between supporting her fiancé and the mounting evidence against him. In Tuesday's episode, doctors plan to bring Billy out of his coma, and Dawn hopes he will identify the real attacker. Joe's unreadable reaction leaves everyone guessing.
Producer's Warning
Producer Laura Shaw said: "The run up to Dawn and Joe’s wedding will be far from straightforward but the week of the wedding is even more dramatic! The day will end in tragedy with the consequences having ramifications that will impact the villagers' lives for years to come."
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX and YouTube from 7am.
