The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo has returned with a “powerful” new celebration of culture and connection. This August, more than 800 performers from across the globe will gather at Edinburgh Castle Esplanade for the 2026 show.
Theme and Performances
The theme is A Call To Gather, which brings people together from across the globe, celebrating connection across cultures and continents. Organisers have said it is a celebration of music, military precision, culture and connection that pushes the boundaries of what the Tattoo can be while celebrating everything audiences know and love.
The military is at the heart of the showcase, with the RAF confirmed as the lead service. Alongside international acts, the Massed Pipes and Drums will fill the Esplanade alongside performances from the Tattoo.
Global Participation
From Europe, New Zealand, Qatar and the United States, to Scotland’s own military and traditional performers, the 2026 Tattoo will see an international cast come together for a full programme of music, dance and spectacle.
Jason Barrett, chief executive officer at The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, said: “For more than 75 years, the Tattoo has brought people from Scotland and around the world together through the shared language of music, performance and culture. A Call to Gather captures that spirit perfectly.”

History and Commitment
The Tattoo has donated more than £14.5 million to services and arts organisations since it first performed in 1950. It has pledged to continue its longstanding commitment by donating money raised from the 2026 show to its charity partners.
The show will run from August 7 to 29 at the Edinburgh Castle Arena.
