Serena's intervention may finally save Charity in new Emmerdale spoiler video

Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy) may be the key to saving Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) in Emmerdale, as she pays her a prison visit to warn her about Sarah's dangerous blackmail plot.

Sarah (Katie Hill) has been dead set on keeping Charity out of her life ever since her surrogacy offer went wrong, leaving her pregnant by Ross Barton (Michael Parr) in secret. While Sarah planned her future with husband Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) and their baby, Charity was hiding her own secret – the rape by Dr Todd (Caroline Harker), who had blackmailed her before the attack.

Charity takes the rap

When Sarah discovered the truth and shoved Todd, causing her fatal head injury, Charity covered for her granddaughter and took the blame, landing in prison. DS Thea Ramsden (Chelsea Edge) took over the case, disbelieving the Dingle version of events.

To stop Sarah confessing, Charity revealed the truth about baby Leyla. Now Sarah, though furious with her gran, is sickened at the thought of Charity spending life in prison for a crime she committed herself.

Sarah's scheme exposed

After learning Charity's trial date from a crumbling Serena, Sarah discovered Serena and Thea together and realised Thea knew the truth behind Todd's death. When Thea confronted Sarah, she made it clear she wanted Charity free – or she'd drag them all down.

Next week, Serena visits Charity to tell her what Sarah's doing and try to get her to talk her down. The problem? Sarah won't talk to Charity at all. The situation is desperate – can Charity get Sarah to listen before it's too late?
