Sarah Best was on a first date with Kyle at Nando's when he showed her a photo of his poo. Instead of being disgusted, she was impressed, and the two have now been together for over a decade.
An Unusual First Date
Sarah and Kyle met on Twitter, where she had liked some of his tweets. She later found his Instagram, saw he played guitar, and messaged him to compliment his playing. Initially, Kyle thought she was a bot, but they soon hit it off, talking about everything from favorite movies to how many Jaffa Cakes they could fit in their mouths.
They decided to meet for dinner at Nando's. Sarah was nervous, as she had never met someone from the internet before. When she saw Kyle across the road, she thought, 'Thank God he's as hot as he looks online.' During the date, they shared their proudest accomplishments. Sarah mentioned her job as a visual merchandiser and buying her first car. Kyle hesitated, then pulled out his phone and showed her a photo of his poo.
A Surprising Turn
The photo showed a poo so large it didn't look like it would flush. Sarah leaned in for a closer look, laughed, and joked, 'Got any others?' Kyle then gave her a presentation of his daily bowel movements with running commentary. Far from being revolted, Sarah was impressed by his ability to recall how each poo related to his day.
The laughter continued, and they extended the date with drinks at a local pub. Kyle made sure Sarah got home safely, despite the taxi driver's protests. Sarah gushed about him to her sister the next morning, saying how funny, handsome, and kind he was.
A Decade Later
They've now been together for over a decade, bought a house, got a dog, and married. Kyle still sometimes shows Sarah photos of his poo. Even on their wedding day, he told the story during his speech, saying, 'With the fear of seeming inadequate looming large, I decided to pull out my secret weapon and showed Sarah a slideshow of the biggest poos I’d ever taken including the monster I’d created only a few hours earlier.'
The story made everyone laugh despite the horrified looks on their faces. Sarah says she was judged for being so accepting, but she believes you should be unapologetically yourself on a first date and hope to find someone just as weird as you.
