Chad Lowe's daughter Fiona, 13, died by suicide, coroner confirms

Fiona Lowe, the 13-year-old daughter of US actor Chad Lowe, died by suicide, the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner has concluded. The teenager's death was announced by her family in a statement on Tuesday, September 29.

Family's heartbreaking tribute

In the statement, the family said: "We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona. She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance." They added: "She was adored by her sisters, and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives."

The family described the loss as "devastating for our entire family" and said they are "deeply heartbroken" by it. Fiona was the middle child of Chad and his wife Kim Painter, who married in 2010. They also share daughters Mabel, 17, and Nixie, ten.

Emergency response and family support

Emergency services reportedly responded to the family home just after midnight on Tuesday, and the teenager was taken to a local hospital. The Medical Examiner said she was pronounced dead at 1.14am.

Chad's brother, actor Rob Lowe, is said to have "dropped everything" and rushed to Chad's side following the news. A source told Naughty But Nice: "Chad is his little brother, and the second he heard, Hollywood stopped mattering. There was nowhere else Rob was going to be except by Chad's side."

Previous tribute and career

Chad paid tribute to Fiona on her birthday last November, sharing a photo of her in cowboy boots and writing: "Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!! Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!"

The family's statement concluded: "If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988." Chad Lowe won an Emmy Award in 1993 for the TV show Life Goes On and has also appeared in Melrose Place, ER and Now and Again.
