Three Coronation Street legends were almost unrecognisable as they performed a tongue-in-cheek rendition of YMCA in Village People-inspired fancy dress at their annual charity golf day, raising vital funds for Derian House Children's Hospice.
Annual charity golf event
Andy Whyment, Alan Halsall and Sam Aston, known for playing Kirk Sutherland, Tyrone Dobbs and Chesney Brown on the ITV soap, hosted their latest charity golf day at Worsley Park Country Club on July 10. The trio, who collectively have spent more than 80 years on the cobbles, were joined by friends, supporters and businesses at Delta Hotels by Marriott Worsley Park Country Club in Manchester for a sun-soaked day of golf, fundraising and plenty of laughs.
After swapping their golf gear for Village People-inspired costumes, the actors filmed a humorous performance of YMCA, with fellow golfers joining in. The fun continued into the evening with a gala dinner featuring fundraising, auctions and prizes, as supporters dug deep for Derian House.
Fundraising for children's hospice
The final fundraising total will be announced in the coming days, with every pound raised helping the hospice provide care and support to 400 babies, children and young people, and their families, across the North West. Andy said: "It was a beautiful day for raising funds for an incredible charity, while having an absolute blast." Sam added: "It was a brilliant night and we felt honoured to be supporting such a worthy charity."
The trio's annual golf day has become a highlight in the fundraising calendar, having raised tens of thousands of pounds for charities over the years.
Hospice support and gratitude
Karen Smith, Director of Integrated Care at Derian House Children’s Hospice, attended the gala dinner. She said: "The atmosphere was incredible – vibrant, uplifting and full of fun. But at its heart was something even more special: genuine compassion and humanity. Every laugh, every conversation and every bid made a difference. The support shown means Derian House can continue to be there for more children and families when they need us most, creating precious moments and providing expert care through the toughest of times. We are truly grateful to Alan, Andy and Sam, and everyone who took part."

About Derian House Children's Hospice
Derian House, based in Chorley, Lancashire, supports more than 400 babies, children and young people and their families from across the North West, helping them make the most of every moment. Care is free to families, but it will cost £6 million to run the hospice this year. The charity only receives around 30% of government funding, meaning it relies on kind-hearted supporters to raise 70p in every £1.
