Claire Sweeney 'refreshed' after facial treatment post-Corrie exit
Claire Sweeney 'refreshed' after facial treatment

Former Coronation Street star Claire Sweeney has said she is feeling 'refreshed' as she was seen undergoing a facial treatment after speaking out on her Coronation Street exit, which aired in scenes this week.

Exit from Weatherfield

Fans of the ITV soap, which is filmed in Salford, watched the actress leave Weatherfield as Cassie Plummer, three years after she made her debut as the character, who at the time was revealed as the long-lost mother of Tyrone Dobbs.

The departure, however, didn't come as a surprise, as it was revealed earlier this year that actress Claire would be exiting to take on her dream role as Miss Hannigan in the touring production of Annie.

Tribute to her time on the cobbles

Following her final scenes, Claire paid tribute to her time as Cassie, as well as her Corrie co-stars and those who work on the show. "Three years. What an incredible journey [heart emoji]," she started her post, alongside a video filled with memories both on and off screen.

She also shared: "From my very first scene with Dame Maureen Lipman, to moving into the Dobbs’ house with my gorgeous Tyrone @alanhalsall love you son. Fiz, the lovely Jennie Mcalpine , Hope @bellaflanaganofficial_ , Ruby @billie_naylor24 and Henry… falling in love with Steve McDonald, @fat_dracula who made me laugh every day, such a loyal friend.scrapping on the cobbles with Tracy Barlow, @realkate1 one of the funniest women I know. and even poisoning poor Kenny, Bill Roache a true legend!!!"

"What a ride it’s been. Thank you @ellejmulvaney for being so beautiful inside and out. A joy to work with. It was great to work with you at the end @ian.burfield."

New role and self-care

Despite her Corrie exit only being aired this week, it's been a couple of months since Claire finished filming, and last month, she got her stint as Miss Hannigan underway.

And the soap star is trying to take care of herself and took to social media on Thursday (August 6) to reveal she had undergone a non-invasive treatment. Posting a selfie taken during the treatment, Claire wrote on her Instagram Story: "Just had my EMFACE treatment at @dryusra.almukhtar."

"A fabulous non-invasive treatment designed to tighten, lift and tone the face while stimulating the facial muscles and supporting collagen production. Feeling lifted and refreshed!"

Hopes for a return

While Cassie's exit has sparked a mystery, Claire has shared her hopes for a return to the cobbles, but admitted there is another dream theatre role she has her sights set on.

Speaking on the Conversation Street podcast, she said: "In musical theatre, [my other dream role] has always been Mrs. Johnstone in Blood Brothers. It's always been that. I've not done that one yet. I can't complain with Corrie. The stuff they gave me. It'd be lovely at some point to make a return."
