Harry, an 8-month-old blind Springer Spaniel, has been crowned the 'UK's most deserving dog' at Pure Pet Food's inaugural Pure Fest, an event celebrating the bond between dogs and their owners. The puppy, who was once terrified of stepping outside, was named Guest of Honour after recovering from significant trauma and the removal of both eyes.
A remarkable recovery journey
Harry was nominated by his owner, Nicola, who shared the story of how the young Springer has overcome tremendous trauma following his operation. Initially terrified of stepping outside, Harry has blossomed into a loving and extraordinarily brave dog through sheer dedication and careful training.
Harry and his owners now enjoy groundwork agility sessions together, which have helped strengthen his confidence and obedience, ultimately allowing him to roam freely off the lead.
Pure Fest celebrations
As Guest of Honour at the Yorkshire event, Harry was treated to a scavenger hunt, a Pure Pet Food station, Northern Bloc dog ice cream, puppuccinos, dog-friendly Yorkshire puddings, a collar-making station and professional canine photography.
The occasion raised over £700 for Support Dogs, the charity dedicated to training assistance dogs for people living with disabilities.
Owner and CEO reactions
Nicola, Harry's owner, said: "Harry had an absolute ball as Pure Fest's guest of honour and loved getting involved in all the doggy activities. The Pure Fest team were so lovely and it was really special to see Harry receiving so much love and fuss. We travelled from Glasgow to Yorkshire but it was so worth it and felt incredibly special to be able to reward Harry and celebrate all the growth he has made."
Nicola also took to her TikTok account to share the exciting news of Harry's victory, writing: "Harry won Pure Pet Food's Instagram competition and is going to be guest of honour at Pure Fest 2026. Harry and I are over the moon to have won. I must say, he is truly deserving of the opportunity! We are very excited for Harry to experience this day."
Reflecting on Harry's win, Roz Cuschieri, Chief Executive Officer at Pure Pet Food, commented: "Dogs play such an important role in our lives, and we wanted to create an event that puts them firmly at the centre. This is our first Pure Fest and we've loved bringing together dogs and their owners for a day that celebrates everything we love about them, while also raising money for Support Dogs."
