Antiques Roadshow star Theo Burrell has died at the age of 39 following a battle with brain cancer, just months after marrying her partner Alex. Her husband announced the news via social media, revealing that she passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon surrounded by her family.
Husband shares heartbreaking news
In a statement, Alex wrote: 'It is with great sadness that I share the news that Theo passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday afternoon. Neither she nor her medical team foresaw this happening quite so quickly. She was an incredible person who fought hard for her family, friends and raising awareness of this cruel disease. She saw life events like her son’s first day at school and her wedding that a little over 4 years ago we thought she’d never see.'
The couple married in an intimate ceremony in Edinburgh in March 2026, just four months before her death.
Diagnosis and treatment
Burrell was initially diagnosed in 2021 after suffering from severe migraines. A scan revealed a glioblastoma, a fast-growing brain tumour. Doctors told her she had only three months to live. She underwent surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, and her condition stabilised. However, in October 2024, she announced that the tumour had begun growing again.
Final moments and legacy
According to reports, Burrell spent her last hours with her family on July 8 before passing away. She was known for her appearances on Antiques Roadshow, where she shared her expertise as an antiques specialist. Her husband highlighted her determination to raise awareness of brain cancer, a disease that affects thousands each year.
