New Quiz Reveals Holiday Packing Personalities, From Tea Bags to Pillows
Quiz Reveals Holiday Packing Personalities

A new quiz based on a survey of 2,000 holidaymakers reveals what your packing habits say about your travel personality. The most common items Brits pack include tea bags, biscuits, and even their own pillows, according to the study commissioned by Star Brands for Lenor Crease Releaser.

Key Findings from the Survey

The research found that many Brits cannot fully enjoy a holiday abroad or staycation without bringing home comforts. Seven in ten declared they would prefer to pack excessively rather than risk lacking something essential. Nearly half (48%) admitted they must bring personal home luxuries to genuinely savour a journey.

Specific items that travellers pack include personal towels (50%), garment de-creasing products (20%), personal condiments (14%), and coat hangers (12%). Just 8% believe holiday accommodation provides everything they require.

Biggest Holiday Gripes

The survey, conducted by OnePoll, identified the top holiday bugbears: uncomfortable pillows (41%), wrinkled clothing (45%), and insufficient hangers (20%). A third of holidaymakers have abandoned a cherished outfit because they feared their lodgings wouldn't provide an iron.

Packing Personalities

Nina Lumsden from Star Brands said: "We might not know it, but there are a host of things we rely on every day for our comfort, so it makes sense that we like to take the little things with us to truly have a good time on a trip."

The quiz categorises travellers into types: the comfort seeker, who packs tea bags, a pillow, and a travel appliance to avoid a kettle-less room; the classic over-packer, who struggles to zip up a suitcase filled with cutlery, a rubber ring, and their entire wardrobe; and the meticulous planner (15%), who organises every detail. Meanwhile, 36% prefer some flexibility for spontaneous adventures, and 13% desire no concrete plans before departure.

Nina added: "Whether you're someone who plans every outfit in advance, throws everything in at the last minute, or packs a few home comforts just in case, what we take away with us can say a lot about the kind of traveller we are. The goal is usually the same – to arrive ready to relax and enjoy the trip."
