Liverpool Squad for Iraola's First Pre-Season Training July 13

Andoni Iraola will meet his Liverpool players for the first time as head coach on July 13, but several key stars will be absent due to World Cup commitments. The Reds boss succeeded Arne Slot last month after the 2025 Premier League title-winner was dismissed at the end of May following a campaign that saw Liverpool lose 12 games and finish fifth.

Absentees Due to World Cup

Having all been eliminated at the last-32 stage of the World Cup earlier this week, Iraola will be without his Dutch contingent: Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, and Cody Gakpo. Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak are also absent. Liverpool typically allows three weeks off from international tournaments, so these five players are enjoying time off before reporting back later this month.

The quintet is likely to join the Reds' pre-season tour of the US during the second week, where Liverpool will face Sunderland, Wrexham, and Leeds United in Nashville, New York, and Chicago, respectively. Alisson Becker, Alexis Mac Allister, and new signing Victor Munoz remain at the World Cup at the time of publication.

Players Already Training

Wataru Endo, Giovanni Leoni, and Stefan Bajcetic have been using the club's AXA Training Centre in recent days. New signing Jeremy Jacquet, who completed a £60m move from Rennes on July 1, will be on board from day one. Hugo Ekitike, Conor Bradley, and Viteslav Jaros are expected back for sessions with the medical team after serious injuries last season. Jaros suffered an ACL setback while at Ajax, Ekitike is recovering from a ruptured Achilles, and Bradley's season ended in January during a goalless draw with Arsenal.

Young Talents and Senior Stars

Fifteen-year-old winger Joshua Abe will be part of the US summer tour. Iraola will also have a slew of senior stars, including Hungary pair Milos Kerkez and Dominik Szoboszlai, and Jeremie Frimpong, who missed out on the Netherlands squad.
