A Level students across Greater Manchester and the rest of England are receiving their final grades today, as hundreds of thousands of pupils in England, Wales and Northern Ireland open their results on Thursday morning. School and college leavers will get their A Level and AS grades, as well as results for vocational technical qualifications (VTQs) at Level 3. Students in England will also receive their T Level results, which were introduced as technical alternatives to A Levels.
Grade Trends and University Places
Last year, more than one in four (28.3 per cent) of UK A Level entries were awarded an A or A* grade, up from 27.8 per cent in 2024. For many students, receiving their results will confirm their university places.
Jo Saxton, chief executive of UCAS, said a record number of students are likely to secure their first choice of university this results day. She also expected record numbers of students to accept places through, and apply directly to, clearing this year.
Clearing Process and Coverage
Clearing is available to students who do not meet the conditions of their offer on results day, as well as those who received no offers. Students who changed their mind about what or where to study, or applied outside the normal window, can also use clearing through Ucas.
