Thousands of students in Merseyside can expect a sleepless night tonight as they nervously anticipate tomorrow's exam results. A-level students across the country will finally see the outcome of years of study, as those who have applied to university will also learn whether they have managed to secure a spot.
Results Available from 8am
A level results will be available from 8am tomorrow, Thursday, August 13. Students can pick up their grades either online or in person, and are advised to check with their schools or colleges for specific arrangements.
Students who cannot attend their school or college on results day should contact their school or college to explain the situation, confirm exactly how and when they will receive their results, save any usernames, passwords, and login details they may need, and update their UCAS nominated access if they would like someone else to speak to universities on their behalf.
UCAS Hub and Clearing
Students should be prepared ahead of time with their login details (if they are getting results online), their UCAS Hub details, and a shortlist of potential clearing options if they fail to achieve a place at any of the universities they applied to. The UCAS Hub updates at 8am tomorrow, showing students who have applied to university whether they have secured a place at one of the universities they applied to.
Some students are given unconditional placements, while others receive conditional offers, meaning they must meet certain conditions (grades) to qualify. If your chosen university does not update your "conditional" offer by mid morning, call them. Students who do not secure a place at any of their chosen universities will receive a clearing number. In this case, universities must be called directly to request a verbal offer.
Previous Year's Statistics
Last year, record numbers of English 18-year-olds received their first choice of university (193,510, up from 184,400 in 2024). Some 20.4% of disadvantaged 18-year-olds were accepted to higher education, up from 19.8% in 2024 and 17.4% in 2019. T Levels also continued to deliver strong results, with an overall pass rate for T Levels is 91.4%. The new qualification was introduced to provide "a hands-on experience of work in an in-demand sector". In 2024, 97% of T Level students who applied to university received at least one offer, with others progressing onto an apprenticeship or a job.
