Thousands of students across the country will receive their A-Level results on Thursday, August 13. Grades will be released at 8am BST, and students can pick them up from that time or whenever their school opens.
Grade boundaries and UCAS updates
Pupils will receive pass grades ranked highest to lowest, from A*, A, B, C, D and E. Anyone who does not reach the minimum standard required for a grade E will receive a U grade, which means unclassified.
For many students, these grades will determine whether they secured their university and college places. In the UK, students apply through UCAS, the national system used to submit and track university applications. UCAS will refresh on results day to allow applicants to see whether they have been successful.
Collecting results and early access
Most students will head to their school or college to collect their results, so it is important to check beforehand when they will be opening. Some schools may also send out results via email or post.
Teachers and exam officers will receive students' results the day before, on Wednesday, August 12, but these cannot be disclosed to pupils until the official A-Level results day. Universities will also receive A-Level grades a few days before results day, meaning they can confirm places quickly. As a result, any student who applied through UCAS may be able to see that their offer status has updated from 8am on results day.
