A father has been left furious and heartbroken after his son suffered a severe allergic reaction to a meal served at school, despite strict dietary requirements being in place.
The young boy, who has a known allergy, was given food containing an ingredient he is severely allergic to, leading to a medical emergency. His father, who wishes to remain anonymous, claims the school failed to follow the clear instructions provided to avoid such incidents.
"They Put My Son's Life at Risk"
The distraught dad told reporters: "This was completely avoidable. We provided detailed information about his allergies, and they still got it wrong. They put my son's life at risk."
The child was rushed to hospital after showing symptoms of anaphylaxis, a potentially fatal allergic reaction. Medical staff acted quickly, administering emergency treatment to stabilise him.
School's Response Under Scrutiny
The school has since issued a statement expressing "deep regret" over the incident and has launched an internal investigation. However, the father insists that more must be done to prevent similar cases.
"This isn't just about my son—it's about every child with allergies. Schools need better systems in place to protect them," he added.
Growing Concerns Over Allergy Safety
This incident has reignited debates about food safety standards in UK schools, particularly for children with allergies. Campaigners argue that stricter protocols and better staff training are urgently needed.
Parents of allergic children are now being urged to double-check school meal policies and ensure all staff are fully aware of their child's dietary needs.
