Game of Thrones star Tony Way is set to appear in EastEnders as part of Zoe Slater's death storyline, marking his return to the BBC soap after a 24-year absence.
Way, best known for playing Ser Dontos Hollard in the hit HBO series, previously appeared in EastEnders in 2004 as a character called Nick. He will now re-debut in a brand new role during his short stint in Albert Square.
Connection to Zoe Slater's exit
Tony Way's story is connected to the Slater family, specifically Zoe Slater, played by Michelle Ryan, whose death has already been confirmed after cast members were filmed at her funeral. The exact circumstances of Zoe's death remain a mystery, but it is known to involve Way's character.
Michelle Ryan briefly reprises her role for the last time after a sudden temporary exit earlier this year. Her exit was confirmed when it was revealed she had been axed from the show after just 12 months in the role, following a 20-year absence.
Way's recent roles and upcoming scenes
More recently, Tony Way has starred in Ricky Gervais' Cats and has had roles in After Life, Edge of Tomorrow, and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. It is not yet known what role he will play in Zoe's death, but the scenes are expected to air in just a few weeks.
The Sun on Sunday recently confirmed that the Walford icon will be found dead in bed after ignoring a bump to her head earlier in the week. The 42-year-old has already filmed her final scenes, which have been described as "dull." She is found dead in bed the next day by her mum Kat Slater, played by Jessie Wallace.
A source allegedly told The Sun on Sunday: "It looks as if her death is going to be as flat and as lacklustre as her comeback. Many will feel her death is rushed and dull. And in a show known for its sensational exits, Zoe's will go down as one of the blandest."
