A quiet grocery trip turned into a nightmare scenario at a Giant Eagle supermarket in Cleveland, Ohio, when a mother and her young son became victims of a seemingly random and brutal stabbing attack.
The alleged perpetrator, 32-year-old Bionca Ellis, has been charged with attempted murder following the shocking incident that left a three-year-old boy fighting for his life in hospital.
The Supermarket Attack
According to police reports, the violence erupted without warning in the supermarket aisle. Ellis is accused of approaching Margot Wood and her son Julian as they shopped, then launching a sudden and vicious attack with a large kitchen knife.
"This appears to be a completely random act of violence," stated Cleveland Police. "The suspect had no prior connection to the victims and the attack was entirely unprovoked."
Young Victim's Critical Condition
Three-year-old Julian Wood suffered the most severe injuries in the assault. The toddler was rushed to Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital where he remains in critical but stable condition.
His mother, Margot Wood, sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the attack and has since been released from medical care.
