Collision Leaves Teen with Serious Leg Injuries

A 17-year-old boy sustained serious leg injuries after a car and an e-bike collided on Roseden Way in the Great Park area of Newcastle. The incident occurred just before 6:30pm on Thursday, June 18, and residents reported hearing a "massive bang" from their homes.

Northumbria Police and the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) responded to the scene. The teenager's injuries were serious but not life-threatening. He was transported to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) for treatment.

Emergency Response and Road Closure

NEAS dispatched two ambulances and a hazardous area response team (HART) vehicle. A section of Roseden Way was closed to allow for the recovery of the vehicles involved but was later reopened to traffic.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "At 6.30pm on Thursday (June 18), we received a report of a collision on Roseden Way in the Great Park area of Newcastle. It was reported that a car and an electric bike had collided. Emergency services attended and the rider of the bike, a 17-year-old boy, was found to have sustained serious injuries to his leg, which were not thought to be life-threatening. He was taken to hospital for further treatment of his injuries. A section of the road was closed to allow for recovery of the vehicles involved and later reopened to traffic."

Ambulance Service Statement

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson added: "We were called to a road traffic incident on Roseden Way in Great Park, Newcastle on Thursday 18 June at 18:21. We dispatched two ambulance crews and one HART resource. One patient was taken to RVI hospital for further treatment."
