Ryanair passenger sucked through window, wife clings on

A Ryanair passenger who was partially sucked through a broken plane window during a mid-air emergency has been identified as Ljubiša Karović, 61, from Serbia. His wife Svetlana Grković clung to his legs to prevent him from being pulled out entirely.

Incident Details

The flight, operating from Thessaloniki, Greece, to Memmingen, Germany, took off at 5.55am local time on Friday. Shortly after, the pilot detected a problem with the engine while over North Macedonia and decided to return to Thessaloniki. During the descent, debris from the damaged engine detached and struck a cabin window, causing Karović to be sucked outward due to cabin pressure.

According to reports, Karović had his seatbelt fastened, which helped keep him partially inside. His wife, Svetlana, grabbed his legs and held on until the aircraft landed safely back in Thessaloniki. No other passengers were injured.
