A 32-year-old man has been arrested after a car being driven dangerously overturned and struck two pedestrians in Littleborough on Saturday evening, July 11. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) and paramedics responded to the collision on Denhurst Road at approximately 9:20pm after reports of a vehicle being driven dangerously in the area.
Victims suffer minor injuries
The vehicle hit a 35-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman. Police confirmed that both victims sustained minor injuries in the collision. The car was found flipped over at the scene.
Arrest and charges
The suspect, a 32-year-old man, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, handling stolen goods, and failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis. He remains in custody for questioning as investigations continue.
Detective Sergeant Cahill from GMP's Rochdale Criminal Investigation Department stated: "We understand this was a deeply concerning incident and I would like to reassure you we are doing everything we can to establish the full circumstances. I would like to thank the members of the public for their assistance and cooperation whilst officers dealt with the incident."
Appeal for witnesses
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has footage from the area to come forward. Detective Sergeant Cahill added: "As our investigation continues, we are now urging for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has footage from the area to please come forward and report."
