Jimmy Mizen's Killer Granted Freedom: Drill Rapper Who Murdered Schoolboy Wins Parole
Jimmy Mizen's Killer Granted Parole After 16 Years

The family of murdered schoolboy Jimmy Mizen has been dealt a devastating blow as his killer, drill rapper Jake Fahri, has been granted parole after 16 years behind bars.

The 16-year-old victim was brutally attacked in a baker's shop in Lee, South London, in May 2008. The unprovoked assault culminated in Fahri, then 19, shoving a glass dish into Jimmy's neck, severing a major artery.

A Life Sentence Cut Short

Fahri was handed a life sentence with a minimum term of 14 years after being convicted of murder. The Parole Board has now concluded he is fit for release, a decision that has left Jimmy's parents, Margaret and Barry Mizen, heartbroken and questioning the justice system.

In an emotional statement, the Mizen family expressed their profound grief, stating the news "brings it all back, the horrible, horrible way he was killed." They revealed they are now faced with the unbearable anxiety of potentially encountering his killer in their community.

From Murderer to 'Drillaz' Rapper

During his time in prison, Fahri has pursued a music career under the moniker "J Fahri" or "Drillaz," creating drill rap tracks. This genre, often associated with gang violence and gritty lyrics, has added a layer of controversy to his case and his path to rehabilitation.

The Parole Board's ruling emphasised that Fahri would be subject to strict licence conditions, including wearing a GPS tag, adhering to curfews, and being banned from contacting Jimmy's family or returning to the area of the murder.

This case continues to highlight ongoing debates about youth violence, sentencing, and the parole process in the UK, leaving a family forever shattered by a loss that time cannot heal.
