Gunman Executed After Quad Bike Row Caught on CCTV

Gavin Parry, 31, was shot twice in the head with a Skorpion machine gun in broad daylight after a dispute over a quad bike, with the incident captured on CCTV. The shooting occurred on April 13, 2021, at an industrial unit in Birmingham.

Sequence of Events

Half an hour before the shooting, Parry was seen riding a yellow quad bike into the unit, which he was trying to sell. A row broke out, and Parry left the scene but returned 26 minutes later carrying a gun and wearing a bulletproof vest. CCTV footage shows Parry walking toward the unit seconds before being fatally shot.

CCTV Evidence and Convictions

Theo Bailey, now 34, was caught on security camera dialling 999, claiming to be an innocent bystander who witnessed a shooting. However, detectives later recovered footage that contradicted his story. Bailey and Dante Kalsi, now 29, were arrested on suspicion of murder. Officers also found five unfired Skorpion-compatible bullets at Kalsi's home, along with a screenshot of a press release about the murder and internet searches related to firearm conversion.

Last November, Kalsi was acquitted of murder and manslaughter but convicted of perverting the course of justice. On Tuesday, he was jailed for three years at Birmingham Crown Court. Bailey was convicted of manslaughter and jailed for 22 years. The court heard that Bailey and Kalsi unhooked the CCTV at the unit before Parry entered, but police discovered a hard drive containing the damning footage of Parry's final moments and Bailey's fake 999 call.

Police Statements

Detective Chief Inspector Jim Mahon of West Midlands Police said: 'Gavin Parry was killed in broad daylight after a trap was set, meaning that he would be shot upon his return. Bailey and Kalsi took deliberate steps to disable CCTV to conceal the crime. Automatic firearms are exceptionally dangerous and have devastating consequences.'
