Dad Gets Tattoo of Murdered Son's Face in Tribute

Paul Moy, the father of 16-year-old Kayden Moy who was fatally stabbed on Irvine Beach last May, has paid a permanent tribute to his son by getting a touching tattoo of his face etched onto his leg. The portrait tattoo, alongside another deeply personal design, honors Kayden's tragic passing.

Tattoo Details

Above his son's likeness are the letters "LLKM," meaning "Long Live Kayden Moy." The second tattoo features a Nike Air Max 95 trainer alongside the moving words: "First you were my son, then you were my best friend." Paul shared the tributes on social media, where loved ones and supporters praised the heartfelt memorials. Josh McKinley commented: "He would love that tattoo of the 95s. Absolute belter mate, it’s looking good." Lisa Mc wrote: "This is everything for your boy." Darcy McCrorie added: "Absolutely love this, Paul!!" David Kirkwood said: "That’s a belter."

Upcoming Memorial Event

The emotional tribute comes ahead of a balloon release taking place at Irvine Boating Pond on Saturday, July 11, where family, friends, and members of the public will gather to remember Kayden near the scene of the tragedy. Paul wrote on social media: "We are overwhelmed by the kindness being shown for Kayden. I've been contacted by some lovely women from Ayrshire who told me that the people of Irvine would like to organise a balloon release in his memory. Get yourself down Saturday 11th July for Kayden."

Convictions in the Case

Last month, three youths were convicted in connection with Kayden’s killing following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow. Cole Turley, 18, admitted murder, while Jay Stewart, also 18, and a 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were found guilty of acting alongside him in the fatal attack. Jurors heard the trio fled the busy beach after the stabbing. The court was told they later boasted about what they had done and even created a rap mocking the dying teenager. Judge Lord Scott deferred sentence on Turley, Stewart, and the 15-year-old pending the preparation of background reports. The three are due to return to court for sentencing this month.
