Sainsbury's Shoppers Rush to Buy 'Best Toblerone Ever' as New Crispy Caramel Flavour Launches
Shoppers Rush for New Toblerone Crispy Caramel at Sainsbury's

Toblerone Crispy Caramel, a flavour previously only available at airports for £7.50, has launched at Sainsbury's for £2.50—or £2 with a Nectar card. The limited-edition Swiss chocolate is described as "premium Swiss milk chocolate with irresistible salted caramel pieces and crunchy texture for an indulgent new taste experience."

Shoppers React to the New Flavour

New Foods UK broke the news on Instagram and Facebook, sending followers into a frenzy. Many said they "need to try this," calling it "interesting." One shopper remarked: "I saw this yesterday and can't believe I walked past them." Another compared it to a Daim bar, the Swedish chocolate with crunchy almond caramel. A third joked: "Just giving me an excuse to go to Sainsbury's now!"

However, some were disappointed that the supermarket version is only 100g, much smaller than the 350g airport variant. One man who had sampled it "back in May" at the airport declared it "the best Toblerone ever," encouraging others to try it before committing to a larger size during summer travels.

History of Toblerone

Toblerone was created in Bern, Switzerland, in 1908 by Theodor Tobler and Emil Baumann. Its distinctive triangular mountain shape and honey-almond nougat became its signature. In the UK, it gained fame through duty-free shops and travel retail, becoming associated with holidays and gifts rather than everyday bars.

The classic recipe remains popular, but changes in 2016—altered shapes, larger gaps between triangles, and reduced gram weights—sparked backlash over "shrinkflation." In 2018, the brand partially reversed course, restoring more traditional triangle spacing on some products.
