Abuser who made victim bark like a dog found in fridge

Police bodycam footage captured the moment officers discovered Dean Foord, a violent abuser, hiding inside his own fridge during a search of his home in Rochester, Kent. The 33-year-old was found crouched in the appliance, pretending to be calm and asking officers to be careful with his 'broken' foot. An officer responded, 'Get out or I'll pull you out.'

Six months of abuse

Foord's victim endured six months of physical and mental abuse. He controlled her social media accounts, forced her to cut contact with friends and family, and only allowed her to leave the house with his permission. She was locked in a room and made to bark like a dog before being released. He spent all her money on gambling, drugs, alcohol, and scratch cards, and destroyed any phone she had. He even forced her to sell a phone to pay off his drug debt.

Physical violence included dragging her by the neck, pushing her to the floor, and banging her head into the ground. When she tried to escape, he followed her and threw a brick through a window, putting a friend in fear for her life. He also filmed himself threatening her with a knife, saying he would kill her, and threw a bucket of dirty water over her.

Arrest and conviction

Foord was arrested in December 2025. During the search, officers also found him in possession of cocaine. He was later charged and, following a trial, found guilty of actual bodily harm, criminal damage, threats to kill, common assault, controlling and coercive behaviour, and possession of a class A drug. He was sentenced to 3 years in prison.

Investigating officer Police Constable George Fisher said: 'Foord is a violent bully who used fear, violence and intimidation to control almost every aspect of the victim’s life. He tried to hide from officers in a fridge, but there are no hiding places. This shows that we will track offenders down and bring them to justice. I also commend the victim for the courage she has shown in coming forward and helping to secure this conviction.'
