Dean Foord, 33, of Brooker Close, Rochester, was sentenced to three years in prison at Maidstone Crown Court on 30 June after being found guilty of multiple offences including actual bodily harm, criminal damage, threats to kill, common assault, controlling and coercive behaviour, and possession of a class A drug. His attempt to escape justice by hiding in a fridge during a police search proved futile.
Six Months of Abuse
Foord's victim endured six months of mental and physical abuse. He controlled her social media accounts and forced her to cut contact with friends and family. She was only allowed to leave the house with his permission. On one occasion, he locked her in a room and made her bark like a dog before releasing her. He spent all her money on gambling, drugs, alcohol, and scratch cards.
Physical Violence and Threats
The abuse escalated to physical violence. Foord dragged the victim by the neck, pushed her to the floor, and banged her head into the ground. When she tried to escape, he followed her to a property and threw a brick through a window, putting the homeowner in fear. He also filmed himself threatening her with a knife, saying he would kill her, and on another occasion threw a bucket of dirty water over her.
Arrest and Conviction
Foord was arrested in December 2025. During a search, officers found him hiding in a fridge and also discovered he was in possession of cocaine. He was charged and later convicted after a trial. Investigating officer Police Constable George Fisher said: 'Foord is a violent bully who used fear, violence and intimidation to control almost every aspect of the victim's life. He tried to hide from officers in a fridge, but there are no hiding places. This shows that we will track offenders down and bring them to justice.' Fisher also commended the victim for her courage in coming forward and helping to secure the conviction.
