Fears are intensifying for a Brazilian psychology student who disappeared almost a week ago after boarding a bus from her university campus. Vittoria Figueiredo-Barreto, aged 30, was visiting the United Kingdom and had been residing in the Southend area while exploring the possibility of pursuing a doctorate degree in the country.
Last Known Movements
Vittoria was last observed at the University of Essex campus in Wivenhoe on Tuesday. She boarded the number 87 bus on Boundary Road just after 1 pm and disembarked approximately 30 minutes later in Bellfield Avenue, Brightlingsea. Authorities also suspect she may have been in the vicinity of Brightlingsea Harbour later that evening.
Appearance and Appeal
At the time of her disappearance, Vittoria was wearing a dark coat, a blue turtleneck jumper, light blue jeans, and black trainers. She was carrying a distinctive white shoulder bag emblazoned with the phrase 'people over profit'.
Detective Superintendent Anna Granger expressed escalating concerns, stating, 'Vittoria has been missing for almost a week now, and every day that she remains missing, our worries for her safety increase significantly. We have been meticulously reviewing CCTV footage, conducting door-to-door inquiries in the area where she was last seen, and liaising with her friends and family.'
Urgent Public Assistance Requested
Detective Superintendent Granger made a direct appeal: 'Vittoria, if you are reading this, please contact us immediately. We simply need to confirm that you are safe and well. Additionally, we urgently request anyone living or working in the Brightlingsea area to check their CCTV systems, doorbell cameras, or dash cam recordings for any potential sightings of her movements.'
