In a case that has sent shivers through a quiet Buckinghamshire community, a calculating and sadistic killer has been handed a life sentence for the brutal murders of two young stable girls.
Benjamin Field, 28, was convicted at Oxford Crown Court for the 2021 killings of 21-year-old Hannah Williams and 19-year-old Lauren Tierney. The court heard harrowing details of how Field lured the women, who worked together at a racing stables, before subjecting them to a violent and fatal attack.
A Chilling Confession
The true depth of Field's remorseless nature was revealed when prosecutors played a police interview tape. Upon being informed that the remains of his second victim had been found, Field coldly declared to detectives, "I'm free now." This statement was described by the prosecution as a "breathtakingly cruel admission of his guilt and satisfaction."
A Community in Mourning
The murders have left the close-knit equestrian community devastated. Described by friends and family as "bright, kind, and full of life," Hannah and Lauren had their futures brutally stolen. The judge, Mr. Justice Martin Spencer, stated that Field had committed "acts of almost unspeakable brutality" and that his actions were driven by a "deep-seated and sadistic desire to kill."
Field will serve a minimum of 35 years behind bars before he can be considered for parole. The judge concluded that he represents a "continuing and significant danger to women."
