The son of Hollywood actor Norman Reedus, famed for his role as Daryl Dixon in 'The Walking Dead', is facing legal trouble after an incident at a trendy New York City nightspot.
Mingus Lucien Reedus, 24, was arrested and charged with assault in the third degree following a physical altercation at Helena's, a members-only club in the Meatpacking District of Manhattan. The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
According to law enforcement officials, the altercation began as a verbal dispute before escalating into a physical confrontation. The NYPD confirmed that the victim, a 27-year-old woman, reported the incident to police. She subsequently sought medical treatment for her injuries at a local hospital.
Mingus Reedus, whose mother is model and actress Helena Christensen, was taken into custody and processed at a local precinct. He was later released and is expected to be arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court at a later date.
Assault in the third degree is a Class A misdemeanour in New York, carrying a potential penalty of up to one year in jail. The charge typically applies when a person causes physical injury to another intentionally or recklessly.
Representatives for Norman Reedus have not yet issued a public statement regarding the incident. The case continues to be investigated by the NYPD.
