Woman Accused of Poisoning Boy After Googling 'Worst Thing to Mix'
Woman Accused of Poisoning Boy After Google Search

A woman is accused of attempting to murder a boy after searching online for the 'worst thing' to mix with his medication, a court has heard. Emma Williams, from Erdington, is on trial at Birmingham Crown Court where she denies attempted murder.

Hidden Camera Captures Tampering

The 41-year-old was also caught on a hidden camera 'tampering' with the boy's medicine, jurors heard. Opening proceedings on Tuesday July 14, prosecutor Tim Harrington said the defendant was 'plotting the demise' of the alleged victim, who cannot be identified due to reporting restrictions.

Harrington said: 'The defendant tried to kill (the boy) and did so by interfering with important medication on a number of occasions. This was not a one-off. It wasn't a moment of madness, wasn't an accident.'

Deliberate Actions to End Life

'It was considered and planned deliberate actions designed to end (the boy's) life. Thankfully she didn't succeed but it wasn't through the lack of trying,' Harrington added. The prosecutor stated that Williams had 'researched it and acted upon it,' reports Birmingham Live.

He continued: 'Only one person knows why she did what she did. She is never going to tell you. She has never given a sensible explanation. There's only one explanation for the evidence and that's one of guilt. In fact we will demonstrate she was caught red-handed doing what we say she did.'

Internet Search for 'Worst Thing to Mix'

Mr Harrington told the court Williams 'planned the demise' of the boy and conducted an internet search on her phone for the 'worst thing to mix' with his medication. 'Why on earth would Emma Williams be making those internet searches other than to get rid of (him)?' he added.

The trial continues.
