The son of legendary Hollywood director Rob Reiner will not face a formal plea hearing until the new year, after his court appearance was postponed due to health issues.
Court Proceedings Postponed Until January
Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old accused of murdering his parents, is now scheduled for arraignment on 7 January. The hearing, where he is expected to enter a plea to two counts of first-degree murder, did not proceed as planned on Tuesday. His lawyer, Alan Jackson, cited unspecified health reasons for his client's absence from court that day.
Jackson addressed the media outside the court on Wednesday, emphasising the complexity of the case. "There are very, very complex and serious issues that are associated with this case," he stated. He confirmed the new date, adding, "We are set for January 7 for an arraignment. That's the next court date."

The charges stem from the grim discovery made on Sunday. Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife Michele, 68, were found dead in their Brentwood, Los Angeles home. Both victims had suffered apparent stab wounds.
Nick Reiner did appear briefly in court on Wednesday, clad in a blue vest. US media reported that his only utterance was to say "Yes your honour" to the judge. His lawyer concluded his remarks by noting, "Nothing happened today substantively, we'll be back for an arraignment in the same department on the 7th of January."
