UK Deploys Drones, Warship to Strait of Hormuz Amid Iran Threats

The United Kingdom is deploying drones, Typhoon fighter jets, and the warship HMS Dragon to a multinational defensive mission in the Strait of Hormuz, supported by £115 million in new funding.

Defensive and Credible Mission

Defence minister John Healey said on Tuesday: “With our allies, this multinational mission will be defensive, independent and credible.” This deployment follows threats from Iran to enrich uranium to weapons-grade purity if Donald Trump reopens the conflict.

Iranian Nuclear Threats

Ebrahim Rezaei, an Iranian parliamentary spokesperson, warned that Tehran could enrich uranium up to 90 per cent if the country is attacked again. Donald Trump is reportedly considering reopening the conflict, having dismissed the latest proposal to end the war, with diplomatic efforts at an impasse.
