A murder investigation has been launched after a man in his 40s was found dead in a caravan on Derby Road, Loughborough. Leicestershire Police reported the sudden death on Monday, July 6, at around 11:40 PM. East Midlands Ambulance Service attended the scene and pronounced the man deceased.
Altercation Preceded Death
In a statement released on July 8, police said that subsequent enquiries revealed the deceased had reported being involved in an altercation in the days leading up to his death. Detective Inspector Mike Chandler, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU), is leading the investigation. He stated: “I’ve got a dedicated team of officers working to understand what’s happened in this altercation and the events that led to the death of this man.”
Arrest Made
A 56-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Enquiries are in their early stages to establish the circumstances surrounding the death. Police have set up a cordon on Derby Road, which will remain in place while forensic investigations are carried out.

Detective Inspector Chandler added: “Officers will be in the area of Derby Road over the coming days, carrying out enquiries and forensic investigations.
