Walmart Razor Blade Sabotage: Texas Woman Arrested in Mississippi Bread Tampering Case
Woman arrested after razor blades found in Walmart bread

Police in Mississippi have arrested a woman from Texas after multiple customers reported finding razor blades concealed inside loaves of bread purchased from local Walmart stores.

Chilling Discovery in Supermarket Aisles

The Biloxi Police Department took Camille Benson, 33, into custody on December 16, charging her with attempted mayhem. The arrest followed a disturbing series of incidents that began on December 5 when a customer first alerted staff to a blade found in a product.

Further complaints emerged three days later, and a third alarm was raised at the superstore on Sunday, December 15. Following these reports, employees conducted thorough searches of merchandise and discovered that several other products had also been interfered with. Police were formally notified the next day.

Public Alert and Store Response

The affected locations were the Walmart on CT Switzer Senior Drive and the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Pass Road in Biloxi. As well as bread, a razor blade was also found inside a banana nut muffin.

Authorities issued a public notice urging anyone who had bought goods from these stores to carefully inspect their loaves and report any concerning findings. No injuries have been reported in connection with the tampering.

In a statement to Fox 10, Walmart said: "The health and safety of our customers is always a top priority. We have removed and thoroughly inspected all potentially affected products at impacted stores in Biloxi." The retail giant added that it appreciated law enforcement's swift action and would continue to cooperate with the investigation.

The company advised customers who believe they purchased a tampered product to dispose of it and visit their local store for a full refund.

Investigation and Similar Crimes

Before Benson was identified, the Biloxi Police released surveillance photographs of her roaming inside the Walmart, asking for the public's help to name the individual. Officials have stated they do not believe any other stores were targeted by this suspect.

Camille Benson is being held on a $100,000 bond as the investigation continues. This case bears a resemblance to another food tampering incident earlier in 2024 in Arizona, where a man filmed himself spraying insect killer on produce in a Mesa Walmart before turning himself in to police.

The Biloxi Police Department and Walmart have been contacted for further comment on the ongoing case.
