A woman and a young boy have tragically lost their lives following a devastating house fire in County Offaly on Saturday evening. A second woman remains in hospital with serious injuries.

The fire broke out at a domestic residence in the Castleview Park area of Edenderry at approximately 7.45pm on Saturday, 6 December 2025. Emergency services rushed to the scene to tackle the intense blaze.
On Sunday morning, a Garda spokesperson confirmed the devastating outcome. A 60-year-old woman and a young boy were fatally injured in the incident. A second female, aged in her 50s, was taken to a hospital in the Midlands region where she is receiving treatment for serious injuries.
