Police in Norfolk have launched a major and urgent search operation for a 79-year-old woman who vanished near a university campus in Norwich.
Extensive Search Operation Underway
Jill Grint was last seen near her home in the Earlham area of Norwich at approximately 10.30am on Friday, 5 December. Concerns for her welfare are high, prompting a significant police response that includes officers on the ground, police dogs, a dedicated drone team, and the National Police Air Service helicopter.
Following initial house-to-house enquiries, investigators have issued a new and more detailed description of what Jill was wearing when she disappeared. She is believed to have been in a blue coat, navy trousers, and navy trainers. She was also carrying what appears to be a yellow bag.
CCTV Footage and Updated Appeal
CCTV images reviewed by the force show that Jill, who has shoulder-length grey hair, was using her walking stick at the time. This crucial detail and the updated clothing description differ from the information first released, and police are urging the public to take note.
A statement from Norfolk Police said: "Searches are continuing tonight for a missing 79-year-old woman from Norwich. We would urge anyone who has seen Jill during the day, or knows of her current whereabouts to call us."
How the Public Can Help
Authorities are asking anyone with information, no matter how small it may seem, to come forward immediately. The search is concentrated in the Earlham area, close to the University of East Anglia (UEA), but officers are keeping an open mind about her potential movements.
Anyone who sees Jill Grint or has information on her whereabouts should contact Norfolk Police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 253 of 5 December.
