Bodies Discovered in Luxury Casino Hotel
Police officers made a grim discovery last Sunday afternoon inside a luxurious Atlantic City casino hotel. The bodies of a senior man and a much younger woman were found in their room at the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office confirmed that the discovery was made at approximately 4:55 pm on November 23. The individuals have been identified as Wei Guo Liang, 68, from Brooklyn, and Baoyi Bowie Zheng, 36, from Staten Island.
Autopsies Reveal Cause of Death
Following autopsies, authorities have disclosed the causes of death for the two individuals. The office stated that Zheng died from a broken neck, while Liang died from self-inflicted stab wounds.
At this stage, investigators have found no indication of how the pair knew each other or what they were doing together in the hotel room. The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office and Atlantic City Police have not released any further details about the circumstances of the crime scene.
History of the Borgata Hotel and Ongoing Investigation
The Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa, which is owned by MGM Resorts International, is marketed as offering 'luxurious rooms, premium amenities and unforgettable elegance.' It is the largest hotel in New Jersey, boasting approximately 2,700 guest rooms.
The venue is a major gambling hotspot, featuring a wide array of slot machines and poker table games. It is also the only location in Atlantic City where horse racing is permitted.
This is not the first tragic incident to occur at the Borgata. In 2019, a New Jersey man died after leaping from the 29th floor of the hotel. The investigation into the deaths of Liang and Zheng remains active and ongoing.
