The heartbroken loved ones of a six-year-old boy who died after being struck by a vehicle have paid tribute to him, describing him as 'bubbly and beautiful'.
Kanan-Jay McLeod lost his life in the collision, which occurred on Anchor Drive in Ellesmere Port at approximately 11:40am on Sunday, April 19. The incident involved a black Infiniti FX30D.
Following the crash, family members rushed Kanan-Jay to the hospital. However, despite their efforts, the young boy sadly succumbed to his injuries.
In a statement released through Cheshire Police, his family expressed their profound grief: 'Kanan-Jay was a beautiful and bubbly little boy who brought so much joy to everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends. We would ask that our privacy is respected at this difficult time.'
Investigation Underway
Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision. Officers are appealing for any witnesses or individuals who may have dashcam footage to come forward and assist with the inquiry.
Detective Sergeant Andrew Dennison of the Cheshire Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: 'This is a tragic incident that has resulted in the death of a young child. Our thoughts are with Kanan-Jay's family at this incredibly difficult time.'
He added: 'We are working diligently to establish the full facts of what happened. I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything, or who has dashcam footage, to contact us.'
The road was closed for several hours following the incident to allow for forensic examination, but has since reopened.
