Three men have been arrested on suspicion of supplying controlled drugs after a 16-year-old boy died from taking ecstasy at an illegal rave in west London. Daniel Spargo-Mabbs, from Croydon, became ill at the party in Hayes and died in hospital on Monday.
Police were called at 4am on Saturday by paramedics treating the unconscious teenager at the rave on Pump Lane, Silverdale Road. He was taken to Hillingdon Hospital believed to be suffering from a drug overdose, and later transferred to King's College Hospital, where he died.
Scotland Yard arrested three men, aged 18, 19 and 20, from the Croydon area on Tuesday. The rave was closed down but no arrests were made on the night.
Daniel's father, Tim, warned: 'This was the first time he'd taken anything, and if it could happen to him it could happen to anyone. We very much want to get that message across.' He described his son as 'a lovely, mercurial kid' who enjoyed spending time with his girlfriend and playing on his Xbox.
Richard Parrish, headteacher at Archbishop Tenison's Church of England high school in Croydon, where Daniel was studying for his A-levels, said: 'He was a bright boy, he was an articulate boy, he was a boy of huge potential. He was going to go far.'
Detectives from Hillingdon police station are investigating the death.
