Suburban Family Torn Apart by Alleged Crossbow Attack Plot

A seemingly idyllic suburban family has been plunged into turmoil after their 21-year-old son allegedly attempted to kill his eldest sister with a crossbow in a premeditated attack at their $700,000 home. Police in Lawrence, Long Island, New York, report that Samy Sedhom was arrested following the incident, which occurred around 9:30 PM on Friday, marking the culmination of a months-long murder plot.

Details of the Alleged Attack

According to a criminal complaint viewed by the Daily Mail, Stephanie Sedhom, 28, arrived home from the gym and noticed her younger brother sitting in his Lexus across the street from their $691,000 West Avenue residence. As she pulled her car into the detached garage and entered the code to close the door, she felt a sharp pain in her right ear. Stephanie immediately called the police, while her brother fled the scene in his vehicle.

Authorities arrived to find a G5 hunting arrow lodged in the rear wall of the garage. Police determined that Sedhom had been waiting outside with a Barnett Whitetail Hunter Crossbow, intending to kill his sister. In several statements to police, Sedhom admitted to planning the murder since Christmas, purchasing the crossbow, arrows, and a Spark Nano 7 GPS tracking device to assist in the plot.

Investigation and Evidence

After fleeing, Sedhom allegedly discarded the crossbow in a neighbor's backyard to hide it from police, but the weapon was later recovered. Police also obtained the crossbow's box, a black Katana sword, and an Apple MacBook from his room. The complaint notes that Stephanie suffered physical disfigurement from the attack and required emergency surgery and life-saving treatment at Jamaica Hospital.

Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly revealed that the siblings had a brother-sister rivalry, with disputes over the temperature of their shared home. She stated, according to News 12 Long Island, that Stephanie preferred it cooler while Samy wanted it warmer, highlighting a trivial conflict that escalated violently.

Family Reaction and Legal Consequences

When contacted by the Daily Mail, Susan Sedhom, 25, the middle sister, said, 'We are trying to mourn,' reflecting the family's distress. Samy Sedhom has been charged with attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence, and stalking. He remains in jail under a judicial order to stay away from his sister and faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.

This case underscores the devastating impact of family violence and the extreme measures some individuals may take over seemingly minor disagreements, leaving a once picture-perfect family shattered and a community in shock.
