Sheffield Teenager Critically Injured in Street Shooting

A 16-year-old boy is fighting for his life after a shooting on a Sheffield street. The incident occurred on Monday at 5.17pm on London Road, sending shockwaves through the local community.

Police Response and Ongoing Investigation

South Yorkshire Police confirmed they discovered the teenager with a gunshot wound after responding to reports of a shooting. The victim was rushed to hospital, where he remains in a life-threatening condition. His family have been informed and are currently at his bedside.

A dedicated team of officers, led by Detective Chief Inspector Emma Knight, is conducting extensive enquiries to apprehend those responsible. London Road remains partially closed as forensic teams continue their work at the scene, with disruptions expected to continue throughout Tuesday morning.

Appeal for Information and Increased Patrols

Police have announced there will be increased patrols in the area to reassure the public. Detective Chief Inspector Knight described the event as a 'terrible incident' and urged the community to assist with the investigation.

'This is not acceptable on our streets,' she stated. 'We need you to work with us and provide any information you have.'
