Two men have been arrested by detectives investigating a shocking shooting in Salford, which left a young woman with minor injuries.
Targeted Attack on Residential Street
Greater Manchester Police were called to a property on Wally Square in Salford at around 6.50pm on Thursday, December 4, following urgent reports of a firearms discharge. According to initial enquiries, it is believed two men arrived at the address on an electric bike.
One of the men is then suspected of walking up to the house and firing the weapon. The force confirmed that a woman in her 20s sustained a minor injury during the alarming incident.
Swift Police Action and Arrests
Officers from GMP's Major Incident Team moved quickly, resulting in the arrest of two local men. A 24-year-old and a 28-year-old have been taken into custody on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
Both suspects remain in police custody for questioning as the investigation continues. Police have stated that, based on current information, there is not believed to be any wider threat to the local community.
Appeal for Information from the Public
Detective Inspector Louise Edwards, leading the investigation, issued a strong statement condemning the violence. "Any report of a firearms discharge is shocking and is something that will never be tolerated on the streets of Greater Manchester," she said.
"We have been working at pace since Thursday and we now have made two arrests as part of our enquiries. Further work is to be completed in the coming hours and days."
DI Edwards emphasised the gravity of the crime, noting: "While we are still establishing the exact circumstances, this was a dangerous act that could have resulted in a much worse or deadly outcome. No-one should feel unsafe or threatened in their own homes, and we are working to ensure those responsible face justice."
Police are now urging anyone with information about the shooting, the electric bike, or the individuals involved to come forward and assist their ongoing investigation.
