A twisted stalker who adopted a sinister Mickey Mouse voice to torment his victim has been locked up for four years following a terrifying eight-year campaign of harassment.
Christopher Hicks, 45, waged a relentless campaign of fear against a woman he became obsessed with, bombarding her with thousands of unwanted emails, letters, and voicemails – many in a high-pitched, impersonated voice.
Warwick Crown Court heard how Hicks's fixation began in 2016 and escalated into a horrifying ordeal for the victim, who was forced to change her phone number and email address repeatedly in a desperate attempt to escape his clutches.
A Chilling Pattern of Behaviour
His harassment knew no bounds. The court was told he sent over 1,000 emails and left countless voicemails, some using the bizarre and unsettling Mickey Mouse impression. The victim lived in constant fear, describing how the persistent contact made her feel "anxious, stressed, and scared."
Despite being issued with a restraining order in 2020 for harassing another woman, Hicks continued his campaign, showing a complete disregard for the law and the well-being of his victims.
Justice Served at Warwick Crown Court
Hicks, of no fixed address, was finally brought to justice. He pleaded guilty to stalking involving serious alarm and distress. In addition to the four-year prison sentence, he was handed an indefinite restraining order to protect the victim.
Judge Sarah Buckingham condemned his actions, stating: "You have caused significant psychological harm. This was a persistent, prolonged, and deliberate campaign designed to instil fear."
This case highlights the severe and lasting impact of stalking and the importance of robust legal measures to protect victims and bring perpetrators to justice.
