Community in Shock
The incident has sent shockwaves through the small community of Porepunkah, located approximately 300 kilometres north-east of Melbourne. Local residents describe the area as typically peaceful and quiet, making the violent crime particularly distressing.
Police have assured the public that they believe this was a targeted attack rather than a random incident, but have nonetheless advised locals to remain cautious while the suspect remains at large.
