A major police investigation is underway in Kirkcaldy after a man's body was discovered near the town's popular beachfront promenade.
Officers were called to the scene in the Fife coastal town on Tuesday morning following reports of a sudden death. Forensic teams could be seen conducting a thorough examination of the area throughout the day.
Unexplained Circumstances
Police Scotland confirmed they are treating the death as unexplained at this stage. A spokesperson stated: "We were made aware of a deceased male near the Kirkcaldy promenade around 8:30am. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."
Community Reaction
Local residents expressed shock at the incident occurring in what is normally a peaceful seaside area. One regular beachgoer told our reporter: "It's normally so quiet here, just families and dog walkers. This has really shaken people up."
The beachfront remained cordoned off for much of the day as officers conducted their investigation. Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
