Drunken Intruder Exposes Himself and Demands Sex at Stranger's Door in Newcastle
In a shocking incident that unfolded in the West End of Newcastle, a woman was confronted by a drunken stranger at her front door who exposed himself and demanded sex. The disturbing event occurred just before 7pm in June last year, when Hamda Salah rang the doorbell of a residential property.
The woman, who answered the door, found Salah in an intoxicated state with his trousers pulled down, revealing his boxer shorts. According to details presented at Newcastle Crown Court, the horrified resident asked Salah what he wanted, to which he bluntly replied: "sex". When she refused, he attempted to enter her home, but she quickly closed the door in his face, causing him to move off.
Subsequent Burglary and Property Damage
Following the attempted trespass, Salah proceeded to commit a burglary at a nearby property where a man lives with his son. The son returned home around 9pm and went to bed, only to wake up later and realise someone was inside the house. The father later arrived home, and together they discovered Salah in their residence, wearing some of the dad's shorts.
A confrontation ensued, resulting in Salah being pushed out of the door and chased away. Upon inspection, the homeowners found that a bed had been covered in urine, two picture frames were smashed, and approximately £160 had been stolen from a money box. Salah was identified as the culprit after leaving a blood spot at the property.
Legal Proceedings and Sentencing
Salah admitted to attempted trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence, with prosecutors accepting that the intended offence was exposure rather than rape. The court heard that Salah came to the UK in April 2023 as an asylum seeker and was already subject to two suspended prison sentences for previous offences, including sexual assault and assault.
- In November 2024, he received a suspended sentence for sexual assault and a public order offence.
- In April last year, he was given a further suspended sentence for assault and possessing cannabis.
- The new offences placed him in breach of both suspended sentences.
As a result, Salah was jailed for a total of three years. He was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life, given a ten-year restraining order, and a previously imposed sexual harm prevention order continues.
Defence and Remorse
Michael Forrest, defending, stated that Salah has been separated from his family in Egypt for 18 months and is fully aware of the consequences of his actions. "He wants to put this all behind him. He is remorseful," Forrest told the court, highlighting Salah's desire to move forward from the incident.
This case underscores the severe legal repercussions for such intrusive and criminal behaviour, particularly when committed by individuals already under suspended sentences for similar offences.
