A major police manhunt has culminated in the arrest of a 22-year-old man on suspicion of murder, following the fatal stabbing of a teenager in North London.
Two-Week Manhunt Ends on Boxing Day
Abdel Dedour, aged 22, was arrested by Metropolitan Police officers on Boxing Day, bringing a two-week search to a close. The arrest is in connection with the murder of 15-year-old Adam Henry, who was fatally stabbed on December 9 at around 1 pm on Westbourne Road in Islington. The teenager was taken to hospital but sadly died from his injuries.
Five Further Arrests for Assisting an Offender
In a related operation on the same day, police arrested five more individuals at an address in north-west London. The group, comprising three men and a woman, are aged between 18 and 47. All five were detained on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Two of those arrested face additional charges. The 47-year-old woman was further arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer, while a 39-year-old man was also held for domestic violence and driving offences. All six individuals, including Dedour, remain in police custody as the investigation continues.
A Family's Heartbreaking Tribute
In a moving statement, Adam Henry's family paid tribute to their 'good-natured and loyal' boy. They described a teenager with many interests, who was 'always there with a smile and cheeky sense of humour'.
'He was a loving son, brother, nephew, grandson, friend, and we will never recover from the loss and not having him in our lives,' the family said. The Met Police have confirmed they are supporting Adam's family with specialist officers.
Ongoing Investigation and Court Proceedings
Lead investigator, Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, stated: 'Our thoughts remain with Adam's loved ones throughout this unimaginably difficult time. There is no place for senseless acts of violence on our streets - and those responsible for such crimes should be brought to justice. My dedicated team have worked tirelessly over the last few weeks.'
In a separate but related development, Tsidi Winion, 20, of Handyside Street in Camden, was charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon on December 15. He is due to face trial next year.
