Sydney Underworld Horrified as Innocent Grandfather Tortured in Mistaken Identity Kidnapping
Shocking footage of an innocent grandfather being brutally tortured has been circulating through Sydney's criminal underworld, with police urgently warning the kidnappers they have seized the wrong man. The disturbing video, obtained by Daily Mail, shows 85-year-old Chris Baghsarian after he was violently kidnapped from his North Ryde home during the early hours of Friday morning.
Graphic Evidence of Violent Abduction
Police confirm Mr Baghsarian was forcibly bundled into a dark-coloured SUV in what investigators strongly believe represents a clear case of mistaken identity. Authorities are now working desperately around the clock to secure the elderly man's safe release from his captors.
The circulating footage provides graphic evidence of the grandfather's ordeal, showing him bloodied, tightly bound, and gagged while lying on a carpeted floor stained with blood. Additional images allegedly reveal one of his fingers has been severed during the violent abduction.
Police Suspect Underworld Connection
Detective Acting Superintendent Andrew Marks expressed grave concerns for Mr Baghsarian's welfare, noting the elderly man requires daily medication for his health conditions. "They took Mr Baghsarian whilst he was at home, in his bedroom of his family home, and they took him and bundled him into a car and took him away to a location that we do not know," Det Supt Marks stated during a press conference.
"Police consider that Mr Baghsarian was not the intended target ... You have the wrong person," he emphasized directly to the kidnappers. Investigators suspect the abduction team was actually targeting a relative connected to an underworld figure but mistakenly abducted the innocent grandfather instead.
Appeal for Information and Evidence
Det Supt Marks made a direct appeal to anyone involved in the kidnapping: "If there's a member of the kidnapping crew that has any common decency, to tell us where he is, you tell us where he is, we'll do the rest."
CCTV footage from the neighborhood shows two men arriving in a dark Toyota SUV before approaching the home moments before the violent abduction occurred. Police have confirmed that three individuals are believed to be involved in the kidnapping operation.
Investigators have located a burnt-out vehicle matching the description of the SUV used in the abduction, providing crucial forensic evidence in their search for the perpetrators. The kidnapping has sent shockwaves through Sydney's criminal underworld, with figures reportedly stating that a significant line has been crossed by targeting an innocent elderly civilian.
Government Response and Investigation
Police Minister Yasmin Catley issued a strong statement condemning the violent crime and assuring the public that the perpetrators would be caught and prosecuted. "Police have a proven track record of locking up those responsible for these reprehensible crimes and the bad actors who manipulate them to do their dirty work," Ms Catley declared.
"We do not want to see this violence on our streets," she added, emphasizing the government's commitment to community safety. The investigation continues as police work urgently to locate Mr Baghsarian and bring those responsible for this brutal mistaken identity kidnapping to justice.
