Detectives from the British Transport Police have issued a public appeal for information following an alleged sexual assault on a teenage girl during a train journey from Chester to Wrexham.
Appeal for Witnesses After Disturbing Incident
The reported attack took place on Wednesday, 29 October, shortly before 10.30am. According to police, a man sat next to the teenager, who was in the window seat, and proceeded to sexually assault her. He is also alleged to have made inappropriate comments towards the victim.
Man's Actions Prevented Easy Escape
When the girl expressed her wish to move seats, the man did not get up to let her pass. Instead, he moved a bag from his lap, implying she should climb over him to leave her seat. The incident only ended when the man eventually disembarked from the train.
The victim reported what had happened to staff at Wrexham railway station after the journey concluded. Officers have now released a CCTV image of a man they are keen to identify and speak to, believing he may hold vital information that could assist the ongoing investigation.
How the Public Can Help the Investigation
The individual in the image is described as wearing a black hoodie, a black beanie hat, and a blue lanyard. Police are urging anyone who recognises him to come forward immediately.
