A quiet Lincolnshire village has been left reeling after a brutal murder, as a gang of four men were found guilty of stabbing a dog walker to death in a senseless act of violence.
Ian Staves, 52, was ambushed and killed in the village of Waddington on the evening of October 25th last year. The father was walking his dog when he was set upon by the group in a vicious knife attack.
A Community Shattered by Violence
The trial at Lincoln Crown Court heard how the peaceful community was torn apart by the shocking crime. Mr. Staves, a well-known local figure, sustained fatal stab wounds during the altercation.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on Mere Road, but despite their efforts, Mr. Staves was pronounced dead a short time later.
The Convicted Gang Members
After a thorough investigation by Lincolnshire Police, four individuals were brought to justice:
- Kai Costa, 21, of Waddington

- An 18-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons
All four were convicted of murder and are now awaiting sentencing, which is scheduled for a later date.
A Grieving Family's Anguish
The conviction brings a measure of closure to Mr. Staves' devastated family, who have endured months of anguish. The court case revealed the callous nature of the attack that robbed a family of their loved one.
